Another layout.  Possibly too busy, but that style navigation is really memorable.  I like the speech bubbles for the frontpage options.  Everything seems nicely readable, too.

I’ll be making a series of these as I get closer to the actual future site.  The next one I may go into a little more detail, this is really more about finding the right colours and shapes.

Two candidates for a logo;  I like the green, but the second option’s fonts are way too much.  I think the first is the better option, so far.  Right now that green is far too saturated for how I want the finished product to look.

I think I’ve gone too far past what I actually want in a logo; I don’t really like any of these at all. My favorite is still the coloured logo in this post. That’s the most likely candidate at this point.

I’ll mention now that I know my handwriting is absolutely awful.

Having the letters in Substance seperated is really very cool, It’s nice to be able to experiment with layout like this. I’ve been poring over hundreds of millions of images, looking for some inspiration in the logo. I’m enjoying how these are looking, but they’re still unpolished and the finished logo will probably be very different to these. I’ll most likely do a page or two more like this before starting to refine it at all. Colours are beginning to emerge, too.

So, I’m likely to replace everything.  This is about the sixth total design refresh this site has been through.  One day I’ll dig them all up and show the world.

I’m still really happy with how the page looks, but It still doesn’t scream “finished” – at least not to me.

So, where do you start ?  With a logo.  Here’s a few rough ideas :

I’m not sure there’s anything really worthwhile in there at all. It’s really hard to tell so early in  I’ve a few more ideas that I’ll eek out in coming posts.  Until then I’ll be googling “typography” and listening to this song.
